The Harpswell Buoy serves to foster community connection by sharing a wide array of views and often chippy observations that influence the daily lives of residents in the Town of Harpswell....we're a work in progress and open to suggestions and contributions!
While unanimously agreeing that 24/7 coverage is the solution to a present staffing emergency, some leaders withhold support until completion of new station! The majority of the structure fires since approving the central station have taken place overnight, when there is no town support. Check out the links below.

At a recorded meeting, Selectman Chipman admits to a bribery scheme:
Hiring Frank
True as Fire Administrator is the one thing that's going right with respect to the Fire and Rescue discussion in Harpswell. We're a town divided over a $6m building that appears to now be shrinking by 33%. We can expect a $1m budget line item for 24/7 coverage. shortly. That will assuredly bump the mil rate. We're moving toward a model of coopertition between town employees and volunteer departments, and Frank appears to be the one guy with the professional credentials to shepherd us through the transition. In other words, we have a real bag of fertilizer on our hands. Given the severity of the entire discussion, joking about paying for a vote at a public meeting rises to the level of disrespect toward the Fire Administrator and the taxpayer. Not a good look. An apology is in order.
